If you're like most teachers, you might also begin thinking about periods of learning which didn't go the way you had hoped or which you know were ok but still have room for improvement. If you are starting to think about your own professional growth, then the May 2022 episode of Digital Buzz Radio is for you!
In this episode, Georgetown ISD Digital Learning Coaches Amy Heil, Heather Solis, Marcie Lindsey, and I discuss a variety of ways educators can take advantage of their summer break to participate in professional learning. Below is some more info on the options we talked about in the episode.
Impactful Technology Use Sessions

Marcie Lindsey speaks in detail about these sessions in detail in the episode, and she also wrote about the sessions in this blog post. The sessions are inspired by this Impactful Technology Use Rubric which comes from the research based Dynamic Learning Project. These sessions can be taken asynchronously online or in person. To sign up for them, you can search for "Impactful Technology Use" in the professional development section of Eduphoria Strive, which is easily access through ClassLink.
Professional Learning Networks (PLNs)
On a more informal side of professional growth, Amy, Heather, and I discuss how we have benefitted from our participation in Professional Learning Networks (PLNs). Amy shares a great definition of PLNs from this website, and Heather and I share how we learn from and grow our PLNs on Twitter.
- #nt2t - New Teacher to Twitter Chat (I misspoke in the podcast and said it was for new to teaching teachers! Ooops! The hashtag for teachers new to the profession is #ntchat)
- #ok2ask - A friendly chat where lots of classroom resources are shared
- #digcit - Information on digital citizenship
- #edchat - Used for a variety of education related tweets including discussions of big ideas in education
- #ditchbook - Used by readers and followers of the Ditch That Textbook series of books from @jmattmiller
- #tlap - Used by readers and followers of the Teach Like a Pirate series of books from @burgessdave
